Solid Hardwood Flooring & Installation
in Salt Lake City
There's a reason solid hardwood has been the flooring of choice in well-built homes for centuries. It's cut from a single piece of wood, which means what you see goes all the way through. No layers, no composites. Just real wood from top to bottom.

Tyler was great to work with and did a great job. We moved from out of state and wanted to start work right away when we purchased the house. He worked with us to do a virtual walk through, pick materials and everything. Super great team, finished the job when they said they would. Would definitely recommend 🤙🏼 Update: 2 yrs later - Tyler has helped me with flooring in another property and has done an amazing job again. Super helpful and understanding - I was up against a tight deadline and he did his best to get everything done in time. Would definitely still recommend!

Knowledgeable, easy to work with, professional, reasonably priced. We can't say enough about how happy we are with our floor. We had them replace the ancient carpet in our basement with gorgeous LVP. They also replaced the old carpet in several rooms and our stairs with new carpet. We discovered Trademark through local referrals from folks in our neighborhood. I'd use them again in a second. If you're in the Salt Lake area and need new flooring, then check out these guys.

I had an absolutely outstanding experience working with Trademark Flooring. From start to finish, they were reliable communicative, and consistently followed through on everything they promised. What really stood out was when they went above and beyond, helping me with things outside the scope of the flooring project just to make sure everything came together smoothly. The hardwood floors turned out gorgeous, better than I imagined. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality work and exceptional service.

From start to finish, my experience with Tyler and his crew from Trademark Flooring has been nothing short of phenomenal. Tyler was very responsive, he and his crew showed up on time, and delivered professional results at a fair price. They went the extra mile throughout the whole install of our floors and we couldn't be happier. This is truly a well deserved 5 star review. They went above expectations ensure things were done correctly and made necessary adjustments when needed. Thank you Tyler, Estevan, and crew for making it feel like a beautiful home again.

I highly recommend Trademark flooring for anyone doing hardwood. Tyler and his crew were excellent. They delivered on every promise and my floor looks absolutely stunning. I’m extremely picky and these guys exceeded my expectations. I don’t leave reviews but I felt compelled to leave this one after such a positive experience.

We love trademark flooring. Tyler was so responsive, and got our flooring needs taken care of quickly. He helped us choose affordable flooring for our rental, and didn’t try to sell us product we didn’t need. If you are looking for a trustworthy and affordable company, this is it!

Tyler is by far one of the best flooring reps I've worked with. He communicates thoroughly and always make sure that details are ironed out before jumping in. He is very fair when it comes to pricing and always delivers on time and finishes on time. Even if there are hiccups that happen, he handles them swiftly and efficiently. I cannot recommend him enough. There is a reason for all of his five star reviews. Save yourself the time and give him a call so you can see for yourself.

Solid Hardwood Flooring

What Solid Hardwood Actually Is
Solid hardwood planks are milled from a single piece of timber, typically three-quarters of an inch thick. Every plank is the same material from the surface down to the bottom, which is what sets it apart from engineered alternatives.
Because the material is uniform throughout, solid hardwood responds to its environment more noticeably than layered products. It expands when humidity rises and contracts when the air is dry. In Utah, where winters pull a lot of moisture out of indoor air, that movement is worth understanding before you commit to a product and placement.
Installed correctly, in the right conditions and with proper acclimation, solid hardwood performs exceptionally well and continues to look better with age rather than worse.

Where Solid Hardwood Works Best
Solid hardwood performs best above grade, meaning on main floors and upper levels where moisture levels are more predictable and stable.
It's well-suited for:
-
Living rooms and dining rooms where appearance and longevity are priorities
-
Bedrooms where comfort underfoot matters as much as aesthetics
-
Hallways and entryways that set the tone for the rest of the home
-
Staircases, where solid wood holds up to heavy, concentrated foot traffic better than thinner alternatives
It is generally not recommended for basements or rooms built directly on concrete slabs, where moisture migrating up through the subfloor can cause warping or cupping over time. If you're working with those spaces, engineered hardwood is likely the more appropriate choice.

Solid Hardwood Flooring Species & Character
The species of wood you choose shapes everything about how a floor looks and how it wears. Each one has a distinct grain pattern, color range, and hardness level.
Oak is the most widely used species in residential flooring. It has a pronounced grain, takes stain evenly, and ranks high on hardness scales, making it forgiving in active households.
Maple has a tighter, subtler grain and a naturally light tone. It works well in contemporary spaces and holds up well, though it can be more difficult to stain evenly due to its density.
Hickory is one of the hardest domestic species available. It has strong color variation from plank to plank, which gives it a bold, rustic character that suits certain design directions very well.
Walnut sits on the softer end of the domestic hardwood spectrum but is prized for its rich, dark chocolate tones and straight, fine grain. It photographs beautifully and has a distinctly upscale feel.
White ash offers a grain similar to oak with slightly more variation and a pale, neutral base that pairs well with both warm and cool stain tones.
Choosing a species involves balancing aesthetics with practical considerations like household traffic, pets, and how much maintenance you're willing to do over time. Our team can walk you through the tradeoffs in person.

Solid Hardwood Care & Maintenance
Keep indoor humidity between 35% and 55% year-round, which in Utah often means running a humidifier during the winter months
Use protective pads under furniture to prevent indentation
Place rugs or runners in areas that see the most traffic
Address spills promptly rather than letting moisture sit on the surface
